Panchalie Sathirasas Ceramics Panchalie Sathirasas is a Thai artist born in the eastern province of Chonburi. The colours of her glazes recall the changing shades of rocky hills rising out of plains, and of rice fields of varied growth. A graduate of Thailand’s art school, Silpakorn University, she studied archaeology and the origins of Thai aesthetics. After an initial career related to the media, she turned in the late 1980s to ceramics as her life’s calling.

She gained further experience in Canada and Japan. Her first exhibition in Bangkok drew the attention of art lovers in Thailand to ceramics as an art form. Since then, her works have been introduced repeatedly in numerous publications and television art programmes. The latest solo exhibition of her work, The Quiet Path, confirmed her reputation as one of Thailand’s most outstanding artists and created enthusiasm among Thai art circles and the foreign community in Thailand. Over the years, her work became known outside Thailand and was exhibited in Japan, Hong Kong, Holland and Mexico. |
