Ambassador of Thailänd in Berlin

2007 is an important year for the people of Thailand. This year HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej will celebrate his 80th birthday. Various events will be held in 2007 in honor of HM the King of Thailand, planned and carried out by the Thai government and by individual citizens. Thus we are very pleased that Germany is also responding to the occasion of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 80th birthday and dedicating the art exhibition Coming Closer Berlin-Bangkok to HM the King of Thailand. The exhibition Coming Closer Berlin-Bangkok presents contemporary art by Thai and German artists and can be viewed both in Bangkok and Berlin.

The exhibition is intended as a way of strengthening the 100-year-old connections between the two nations. Moreover, the exhibition will represent a new dimension in the cultural relations of the two countries, enabling the people of two cultures to “come closer”.

I wish all the organizers of this exhibition plenty of success and extend my warmest thanks to them and all those who have supported and enabled this exhibition.
